The world gets weirder as we come to know more about it. Here are some strange bans levied by various countries-
Wine for Married Women- Bolivia
You can consume as much wine as you want in Bolivia, but only until you’re a bachelorette. Surprisingly, the law of Bolivia does not permit married woman to have more than a glass of wine at any location that exists in Bolivia. Bolivians believe that consuming alcohol makes a woman immoral. Moreover, with the consumption of more than 1 glass, they get more prone to a divorce by their husband.
Chewing Gums- Singapore
Don’t just forget to leave your chewing gums at home while making a trip to Singapore, for the sale of chewing gums is banned unless you have a medical prescription for gums. Initially, it was absolutely illegal to chew gum in Singapore but now tourists are permitted to bring in up to two packs of chewing gum per individual. People are even required to pay a fine as high as $100,000 or a prison sentence of up to two years.
Blue jeans- North Korea
Black, grey, or torn- a wide variety of jeans are acceptable unless the color is blue. Since blue is associated with the United States, the public authority decided to ban blue jeans. Hats off! By restricting these, an anti-west and anti-US message has been delivered. Also, manufacturing blue jeans is allowed but wearing them isn’t!
Yellow clothes- Malaysia
Everything from yellow T-shirts to yellow pants was banned in Malaysia as it was the shade of the opposition. It came as a shower because yellow is considered a royal color in Malaysia. The country’s home minister Mr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi banned wearing yellow-hued clothes after the protesters wearing yellow t-shirts protested on the streets demanding his renunciation because of claims of defilement against him.
Jogging- Burundi
In 2014, the country’s President Mr. Pierre Nkurunziza chose to put a prohibition on the grounds that these activities are utilized as a cover for individuals involving in rebellious activities. Indeed, numerous opposition members have been imprisoned for participating in bunch jogs! Ironically, he himself is a former sports educator and has often spoken about the significance of wellbeing and fitness.
