Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India is a sports film that takes us back to the Victorian era of India’s colonial British Raj. The plot revolves around the hardships faced by the people of a village under the ardent Britishers who challenge them to a game of cricket to refrain them from the taxes. Accordingly, the movie is named ‘Lagaan’. The entry of Bhuvan, a fellow villager changes the game for the villagers as he challenges and provokes the Britishers. Towards the end, he hits a six when five runs could get them rid of 3 years of taxes and that was the first win against them. The movie is full of soothing songs, drama, and unrequited love. All in all, it is one of the critically acclaimed patriotic movies that is unforgettable.
Raazi
We all must have watched the blockbuster patriotic movie, Raazi, starring the legendary actors, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. The movie has a unique plot that keeps you hooked until the end. It revolves around a Kashmiri woman, Sehmat who marries a Pakistani army officer to spy on Pakistan during the Indo-Pakistan war. Sehmat is portrayed as a 20-year-old college girl who leaves her studies and gets trained as a RAW agent by the son of an Indian freedom fighter. The movie is full of great songs like Ae Watan and no patriotic occasion is complete without this one. The movie set a different level of perfection in the field of patriotic movies and inspired many.
