Professions like Marketing, Sales, Journalism, and Public Relation demand the extrovert type people who can better handle the outdoor activities and can mingle with others quickly. There are, of course, some professions where introverts are the best option. For example, a chartered accountant of an engineering company, though not being an extrovert person, may be extremely successful in managing all his official affairs. Similarly, a high flier doctor may be a hardcore introvert.
It does not mean that an introvert type person cannot be successful in the profession of Marketing. It is a common understanding prevailed far and wide that a marketing person should be a talkative highbrow, must have a marvelous persuasion and presentation skill. He can more easily convince his prospects to be his customers, but there is no reason to believe that an introvert cannot do that. Quality of high tolerance is very much required for a marketing professional, and it is often found in an introvert person. He can utilize this characteristic significantly for becoming a successful marketing person.
In the same way, an extrovert can become more subtle in the profession of marketing, if he masters the skill of listening. This can benefit him abundantly during the course of an important negotiation of a business deal; his charisma of extroversion is supplemented by the additional skill of listening learned by him.Similarly, introvert type people can muster the technique of articulated communication, gather the courage to communicate with the masses and make them presentable. Today a channel of communication is so fast and well developed that introvert type people can easily hone this skill with practice and over a passage of time, they will also be befitted for the profession which is otherwise meant for the extrovert type.
It is true that if you are an extrovert type person, you will be very successful for a profession where a high level of public relations and communication is sought for. But at the same time, one should not forget that though this trait is beneficial, sometimes, it becomes an obstacle for extrovert people as they lack a skill of listening. One can formulate a suitable strategy to develop introvert type to an extrovert type
Change in work personality:
Introverts are the generally shy type of people who feel uncomfortable in speaking at a public place. They prefer solitude and always keep quiet and listen to others. This quality is a hindrance for them to plunge into a profession of Marketing, Sales, Public Relations, etc. But utilizing their strength of reticence, they should try to have a good hand on the skill of talking and on the technique of presenting issues before masses. Initially, they have to come forward quite boldly to consciously remove the fear lying within and boost their dormant courage by presenting talks to small groups say, to the distant relatives and their friends, and subsequently, present themselves with eloquent talks to bigger groups. In this way, they may change their introvert type personality to a presentable to gathering and mingling type.
Developing the nature of mingling:
Introvert type people should make a habit to mix with different types of people regularly. Initially, they should follow a pattern of mixing by coming closer slowly to the people having a positive mindset for rapport building. Since they are reserved by nature, they must try to mingle with others who have a positive mindset and do not have any reservation for the less talkative people or introvert types.
People with a positive mind frame should encourage the introverts to learn the technique of interaction. Further, complementary words from positive minded people push the introverts to expose themselves to others and ultimately they can become more mingling types.
No barrier for communication:
After knowing the above technique which will encourage them to have a change in personality, the introverts should be encouraged to talk without fear of their favorite subjects and to express their thoughts on various socio-economical issues. Once they find that people are listening to them and to their talks, they will be more proactive in talking and presenting themselves in public. In this way, they will be in a position to initiate a process of transforming their whole personality.
Extra mileage:
Being silent observers, good listeners and less loquacious, the introverts get extra mileage over others. They exactly know when what and how to talk. Because of these characteristics, they are in a position to focus their attention on minuscule matters. Mostly they are obedient, not that audacious, and are of the very secluded type of nature. Because of reticent nature, they are treated by people with a little more respect, more particularly, for their inherent quality of preserving vital information secretly.
Further, because of a less talking nature, others appreciate them for their paying attention to their words. In this process, introvert people create a conducive atmosphere of talk-listen and listen-talk situation, making the business deal or any negotiation more meaningful.
So, in reality, introvert type people are also equally adaptable to professions like Marketing, Sales, and Journalism, provided they take little pain and induce the courage within them to master the knowledge of effective talking in masses.
