Don’t most of us enjoy the first bite of our favorite chocolates after hours of craving? Most sweet tooth people prefer having an excess of chocolates. But our parents tend to stop us from having them. Some fear cavities, while others do not have a specific reason to defend its less intake. Having chocolates can be beneficial too, but excess of everything is bad, and chocolates come with some consequences.
Here are a few pros and cons that come with having chocolates, so it’s better to consume them in normal amounts-
Lowers cholesterol and blood pressure
Relaxation to the arteries leads to balancing and lowering the blood pressure count in the body. Chocolates, especially dark ones help in the production of nitric oxide in the body which lowers the blood pressure count by relaxing the arteries. Also, semi-sweet or dark chocolate helps in the prevention of cholesterol as it contains low-density lipoprotein (LDL). So, it can make your blood function ideally.
Better Functioning of the Brain
The release of adrenaline by dark or semi-sweet chocolates provides relaxation and pleasure to the brain. Adding a bit of chocolate to your diet might not harm you rather, it would make your brain cells sharper and enhance your mood. It is said that having a chocolate bar before an exam makes you remember things better as it contains the right amount of amino acids that boost the protein level.
Adverse Effects on the Body
As we know, the high amount of fats and sugary substances in a bar of basic chocolate can lead to obesity. Chocolates have more calories than any other snack in your daily diet, and it is hard to burn those calories in a day or 2 through a workout. Also, as our parents used to advise, it might lead to cavities and is the main reason for the growing cavities in children these days.
Low Amount of Vitamins and Minerals
There is no proper vitamin or mineral present in chocolate that is essential for your daily diet. So, it is not recommended to substitute chocolate with your daily diet for pleasure.
