When your mind is under the effect of Sattvika qualities, your actions, thoughts, and words along with your core being and soul will glow like a light. People will be eager to be your associates to hear your words, to appreciate your thoughts and follow your lifestyle. When Tamasika qualities influence the same mind, you will be swirling in the convolution of mundane issues of this world. You will always try to gain and acquire from your materialistic acquisitions. The same mind under the influence of Rajasika quality will reap the benefits of its actions. Here all your actions and thoughts will reflect your eagerness to have power, fame, and wealth. You like to establish yourself as an influenced person in society. In short, our minds are always under the effect of all these three qualities of karma. But you need to transcend these barriers and choose which one is ideal for you to follow in your life. How? The same is the burning and interesting issue of existence and maintain a quality life so that others can cite your example.
People have the inclination to get the enjoyment after fulfilling the mundane and trivial desires. Afterward, they become desperate for uninterrupted sensual gratifications. In this process, they move towards the path of immorality. Sometimes, these desires are so unrepentant that it’s hard to have control on this static force except to get immersed in the flow causing an irreparable damage in the living of an ideal life. We face the consequences of our actions based on our performances of various activities. If someone hurls an insult to a mentally weak person, or if someone harms a sick person, a monk, a distressed man or an individual who has an impeccable integrity, he will immediately undergo an unpleasant feeling, but he may not even react forcibly. The reason is that all the above personalities do not show any resistance. They even also don’t obstruct the person’s wrongdoings. When a person performs a right or wrong, honest or dishonest and an amicable or rough behavior or activity, he creates a reactive moment. One needs to eliminate all these reactive expressions. Otherwise, the liberation is ruled out. Until the time you have a physical body, strength, and an average mind-stuff, you have to carry out with actions. The spiritual persons, monks, and sages ensure that new reactive moments arise from various activities should not cause impediments to their Sadhnas. This route of Sadhna only liberates your body, mind, and soul, and you transcend the greed of Rajasika quality and not to be engulfed in the dark tunnel of Tamasika quality. Since sages and the aspirants of the spiritual path are the firm believers of idealism, their minds will never be in the clutch of the reactive moments. While doing Sadhna, especially in the initial stage, we experience pain as well as pleasure. If you feel happiness, it interprets that you become engrossed deeply in this blissful activity and you forget other mundane issues of the world. In this way, there is a high possibility that you become a monk or sage or a pious person or a noble person of high integrity in the distant future as these qualities of Rajasika or Tamasika will have no influence on your mind.
When the qualities of Rajasika and Tamasika have a bearing on your mind, body, and soul, you need to practice eight-limbed yoga. It will lead to developing your cosmic consciousness. You have to keep your mind free from the pranendriya, and this is a way to reach consciousness to understand who you are and what is the purpose of your life? You can pass on time as an aimless vagabond in this life and do your work as it comes on your way without any defined objective. In this turmoil, you will be in mental disharmony, and unable to decide what is right and what is wrong. It will lead you to accept the qualities of Tamasika. If you are a bit planner and perform duties with the tenacity to establish yourself only, you will be a follower of Rajasika quality. In both the cases, you will be far away to reach the cosmic consciousness. Under the influence of pranendriya, you will understand the concept of karmashaya, which will take you to the path of more consciousness. Then, through the practices of various types of asana and pranayama, you will be able to establish a firm grip on your mind. Your mind will be guided by you all the time, but you will ignore the same. Your non-stop radio thinking mostly about trivial matters will come to a halt. When you carry out asana and pranayama, you have to frame your mind as if you are performing Sadhna.
No parrot type exercise will be useful. You have to feel and energetic to accept the change you will be undergoing, and during that time, a cosmic intelligence will arise in your mind, and you will be aware that this body is not yours. This awareness is critical, which is called prajna. Putting more efforts to reach the second stage of prajna, will take you to the knowledge where Karmashaya increases the level of consciousness from a lower level to a higher one. If you reach this stage, the possibility of your rebirth will be remote, because you can control your mind and you only think of spirituality while performing all the social and professional responsibilities. So, to get your mind free from the said qualities except for the sattvika one, you need to embrace a higher realm of consciousness for which you have to put efforts in stages. Once you feel that you are nobody on this earth in this life, you are free and will lead your life almost like a pious person. And the mind of a pious and holy person cannot be influenced by any qualities of karma.
