You can win half of the battle of life by remaining cheerful all the time. With this characteristic trait not only you can increase your productivity but you can also inspire others both in your social and professional circles. The most successful persons in society will be the one who maintains their cheerful mood maximum time. With the growling face and showing irritation, you cannot lead a team to perform any task satisfactorily. Can you show a man on this earth who does not want happiness? Who wants to face struggles? But in reality, we do just the opposite and lose our mental peace and happiness. In daily life, no one wants quarrels, violence or any type of chaotic scenes. Still every day in our life, it happens, and it will happen. That is why despite our longing to be happy forever, the opposite is true. If you observe the smile of your family members, parents, neighbors, you will find the small is a meek convener of your grief. Of course, some people are enlivened, always full of energy level, take part in every social occasion, and their smiles are full of spontaneity. But their numbers are less. Now the question comes how to interpret this happiness subject. Everybody has their definition of happiness depending on their outlook and approach they take to lead their lives. Happiness is a state of mind. The more you are in the state of equilibrium both mentally and physically, the benefits of more happiness you can accrue in life. When we feel anxiety less for our existence, we will be happier. Happiness results if we can fight with our minds and make them as our trusted slaves. They must be not only our slaves, but they need to listen and obey our commands. It is the primary difference between the ordinary people and monk, sages and the higher level of spiritual personalities who have enough control over their minds.
For common people, they fail in the above activity. In almost all the cases of our existence, we become the victims as our minds guide us to do all our functions. Not necessarily, all the actions are wrong. But many of them are impromptu, impulsive, less calculative and full of ambiguities. For these reasons, the results bring despair and make us unhappy. When you think about a particular aspect for an extended period or you concentrate on a past issue and brood over the same without any meaning, you get a sense of not so well-being. Here, the word without any meaning interprets that you don’t expect anything in return for yourself. On the contrary, when you think on a subject hours together for a solution but without any self-interest, it is selfless. You give focus on others interest, or the same is God-oriented. It is known as Samadhi as per Patanjali yoga. Some people often cite the example of meritorious students and when they get engrossed entirely either in their professional works or studies, you just observe their faces. You will notice the enjoyment they receive out of these activities. That time, they even forget the issue of time. What is the reason for such a deep motivation? The most non-debated reason is that mind is entirely at peace and there is no influence of any types of dualities on the mind. And when you focus without any constraints and severity of mind, you can concentrate on a subject for hours together. You become an expert in any subject or people will consider you as an authority when you can remain engrossed in a topic of interest in the above pattern.
Another reason for higher thought is that the above type of focus is a mind-expanding exercise where our minds connect to the universal consciousness. So, when people remain engaged in a particular subject for a considerable period, he is so engrossed that bliss shrouds his face entirely. In the same context, when people consume LSD or other mind-expanding drugs, they also reach the state of almost ecstasy. All these experiences provide the user how to connect to the universe without being distracted by any disturbances. Many provocations and outside noises disturb our concentration and don’t allow us to remain focused for an extended period. But this external stimulus does not put any embargo on the minds of the sages and the monks as they connect themselves very easily to the universal consciousness. The reason is they are in the state of Samadhi mostly. At that level, the contemplation of meditation is the only ruling factor of life.
You can obtain true happiness when you don’t expect anything from anyone in this world. We lose joy because we hunch to receive many things in return from our parents, spouses, friends, and superiors or colleagues in offices. When we fail to receive our aspiration levels, we get frustrated and become gloomy. We become irritated that we lose our happiness. Detachment from greed or desire of obtaining tangible results and that too at no efforts given by you is a sign of inviting more unhappiness. If the mind is always searching for any result and that too for the satisfaction of your greed is the primary cause of your mental downfall. Detachment reduces the formation of psychological knots in the brain, and the lesser of this formation will be more productive for your happiness. Why these knots get accumulated? When the reality tramples your expectations, there is a development of neural pathways in your memories. And it will make you swirl you in the convolute of unhappiness. Why are we so discontented in life? These neural pathways of the memories provide us an attachment, and we think on the same for the reasons of failure or non-fulfillment. The concept of detachment leading to bliss is the hallmark of Gita and Patanjali yoga.
Most of our attachments are due to the fact when we desire to achieve some object and that too on an immediate basis. Sometimes, we show great attachment to an idea or an issue. When we cannot convert that idea to our expectations, we get morose and gloomy. Possession provides us with a sense of security. There is a myth that the more the things are at our disposal, the more happiness will be in our lap. If you possess an active and powerful brain, you can reduce the desire for possession. The desire for possession also comes from fear. When fear grapples your mind and body, and you are afraid not to obtain many objects of your choice, the knots will start accumulating in your brain.
The brain is an agile organ of human body and continually provides various impulses to perform different activities. For example, you are not tired and not requiring sleep, but the brain might give you an urge to sleep under the pretext of idleness and whistle away the time. Based on the activities of this powerful machine, namely mind, we receive various signals emanating from this organ and internal churning of the same. In this way, there will be non-stop marking and breaking of neural pathways available for processing information increase fast if we have few memories stored in the brain. We get more accumulation of strong memories in our mind due to emotional incidents or happenings. In general, such types of events take place in childhood. It may also happen due to traumatic circumstances experienced by any person. According to Patanjali, we can eliminate these memories with the help of yogic practice. One who can restrain his life’s activities and do not have any emotional attachment to any causes and its happenings, the strong memories cannot put any embargo on him. The sages and the monks fall into these categories.
Some people believe that money provides ample happiness. It is true because if you have no crisis of money, you can quickly take care of the mundane issues. You even can make significant decisions related to life without much tension. And then, you can focus on the higher goals mainly related to spiritualities. Why is it so? A sedate mind is the abode of a peaceful entity, and your concentration will be like a rock solid. But you have to consider the money as a medium for advancement in life. You should not immerse in its glamour. You must leave all your attachment for the same. We can receive more happiness if we can reduce pain. The Oxford University has considered research on this aspect. The conclusion is that in the brain, we have both the centers for the pain of emotional and physical which are in the dorsal posterior insula – the front position of the brain. It is the place which is governing the position of ego also. So, the management of pain is directly controlled by the ego so that the whole brain is responsible for its alleviation. As the brain is the focal point to provide us happiness, we must make attempts for strengthening this organ. You can make it healthy with the help of yoga and meditation. Thus we can eliminate egos and conflicts and lead a blissful and tension less life for a maximum time. And, we will be in a cheerful state most of the time.
